Our Story
Our journey began unexpectedly on Twitter when Adekunle Omole and Oluwafunbi Adeleye, driven to excel in their exams and graduate school applications, connected through the comment session of a well-known Nigerian scholar in Canada's tweet in 2021. Recognizing the value of supporting each other in the process of applying to grad school, they formed a WhatsApp group on May 17th 2021 called JCS (Japa Crew Scholars) with a few friends sharing similar ambitions. This marked the inception of our vibrant community, starting with just seven members, now pursuing their dreams in the US and Canada. Guided by motivation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing, we uplift and inspire one another, resulting in remarkable success - As of June 2023, we have had over 70 scholars, with over 80% of them secured fully funded offers in renowned universities around the world.
Japa Crew Scholars Community, strives to motivate Nigerian students towards international higher education opportunities. Through our relentless commitment to equitable access and support programs, we aim to unlock the potential within each student, empowering them to become impactful global scholars irrespective of their grades. Our scholars’ achievement, including gaining admission to prestigious universities and earning prestigious scholarships, serve as proof of the effectiveness of our programs and the positive impact we create both locally and internationally.
JCS Foundation, an extension of JCS, is dedicated to providing financial assistance to individuals with the desire and potential to pursue graduate school but face financial challenges. Depending on the available funds, we offer support by covering exam registration fees, application costs, and even facilitating the acquisition of international passports if needed. While JCS-F aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens, it is essential to emphasize that being part of this vibrant community, where crucial information is shared, remains the most significant benefit of joining.
